Thickness range:
Copper strip: minimum thickness is 0.01 mm (high-precision strip), conventional thickness is 0.075–5.00 mm, and some standards cover up to 25 mm (such as EN 13599).
Copper strip width is usually 8–1250 mm, and high-precision strip width can be customized to 600 mm (tolerance ±0.1 mm).
Other parameters:
Inner diameter of copper strip coil: 80–500 mm, unit weight is 3–14 kg/mm (adjusted according to thickness and width).
Tolerance requirements: Thin strips (such as 0.01–0.1 mm) have a thickness tolerance of ±0.02 mm and a width tolerance of ±0.1 mm; thicker strips (such as above 0.5 mm) have looser tolerances.
International Standards
European Standards:
EN 13599: Copper plates, sheets and strips for electrical purposes, with a thickness of 0.05–25 mm and a width of 10–1250 mm, covering chemical composition, electrical conductivity (≥58 MS/m) and mechanical properties.
EN 1652: General copper plate and strip standard, suitable for non-electrical fields.
American Standards:
ASTM B152: Specifies the chemical composition, tensile strength (≥195 MPa), elongation (≥30%), etc. of copper strips, with a thickness range of 0.5–0.8 mm (adjusted according to the application).
Chinese Standards:
GB/T 2059: Cold-rolled copper strip standard, with a thickness of 0.05–3.0 mm, width determined by the buyer, and electrical conductivity requirements (such as T2 pure copper ≥98% IACS).
GB/T 5231-2022: specifies the chemical composition (Cu 79.0–81.0%, balance Zn) and processing requirements of C24000.
Other standards:
JIS H3100 (Japan): corresponds to C24000 copper strip, thickness and tolerance are similar to GB/T.
BS EN 13599 (UK): consistent with European standards, emphasizing electrical performance verification methods.
Main ingredients:
Copper (Cu): 78.5%-81.5% (Chinese standard GB/T 5231-2012), US UNS C24000 standard is 76%-80%
Zinc (Zn): Balance, about 18%-23.5%.
Impurity control:
Lead (Pb): Chinese standard requires ≤0.03% or ≤0.05%, while UNS C24000 contains 0.5% Pb (low-lead brass).
Iron (Fe): ≤0.05%-0.10%.
Phosphorus (P): ≤0.01%.
The total of other impurities is ≤0.3%.
Mechanical properties
Strength and plasticity:
Tensile strength: 360 MPa (52,000 psi), some data show lower (235 MPa), which may be related to different processing conditions (such as annealed or cold-processed).
Yield strength: 170 MPa (25,000 psi).
Elongation: 42% (50 mm gauge length), the plasticity of Chinese standard H80 is good, suitable for hot and cold pressure processing.
Elastic modulus:
117 GPa (17,000 ksi)
Hardness:
Brinell hardness 82 HB, relatively low, but can be improved by cold hardening.
Production process and product advantages of C24000 copper strip:
1. Production process
Raw material processing and melting
Copper rods need to be homogenized to eliminate dendrite segregation and internal stress generated during casting to improve subsequent processing performance.
Use upper furnace or continuous casting process to prepare copper billets to ensure uniformity of material composition.
Rolling and rolling
Cold rolling process: Through multiple rolling processes such as rough rolling and finishing rolling, the thickness of the copper strip is accurately controlled, and the surface finish and strength are improved.
Hot rolling process: In some cases, hot rolling is used to reduce the thickness of the strip, which is suitable for wide products.
The rolling process includes milling (removing surface defects), intermediate annealing (softening materials), and finishing rolling to finished product specifications.
Annealing and surface treatment
Intermediate annealing and finished product annealing: annealing by electric heating or gas bell jar to eliminate work hardening and improve ductility.
Pickling and passivation: Use acid to clean and remove the oxide layer, and passivation process to prevent oxidation and discoloration of the copper strip.
Short process and wide width technology
Short process production technology is adopted to reduce processing steps and improve efficiency; wide width technology (650mm and above) meets large size requirements.
2. Product advantages
Excellent processing performance
High ductility and easy cutting, suitable for precision stamping, bending and other processing, especially suitable for precision parts such as electronic components and connectors.
Corrosion resistance
Resistant to atmospheric and industrial corrosion, suitable for harsh working conditions such as marine equipment and automotive parts.
Environmental protection and safety
Some C24000 copper strips are lead-free and environmentally friendly materials, which meet international environmental standards and reduce toxicity risks.
Stable physical properties
Density 8.6 g/cm³, melting point 888°C, good conductivity and medium strength, balancing function and durability.
Diversified applications
Widely used in automotive electronics, heat exchangers, building hardware, elastic parts and other fields, supporting customized striping, tinning and other processing.
Quality and standard guarantee
The products meet international standards such as JIS and ASTM, with high surface finish and strict dimensional accuracy to meet the needs of high-end customers.
