Detailed Chemical Composition of C62300 Aluminum Bronze

C62300 is an aluminum bronze alloy primarily composed of copper (Cu), aluminum (Al), and iron (Fe), with minor additions of manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), nickel (Ni), and tin (Sn). The chemical composition is standardized as follows:

ElementComposition (Weight %)
Cu + Ag82.2 – 89.5%
Al8.5 – 11.0%
Fe2.0 – 4.0%
Mn≤ 0.50%
Si≤ 0.25%
Ni (incl. Co)≤ 1.0%
Sn≤ 0.6%

Key Notes:

  • Aluminum (Al) enhances strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance.
  • Iron (Fe) refines grain structure and improves mechanical strength
  • Trace elements like Mn and Si aid in deoxidation and improve workability

Mechanical Properties of C62300 Aluminum Bronze

C62300 exhibits excellent mechanical properties, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications. The values vary slightly depending on product form (e.g., extruded bars, forgings) and temper conditions (e.g., HR50, TQ50).

INTRODUCTION

Production process and product advantages of C62300 copper bushing:

Production process

Raw material smelting and casting

Mix raw materials such as copper, aluminum, and iron in proportion and then smelt them to form a molten alloy.

The molten alloy is poured into the mold for casting to form the initial shape of the aluminum bronze sleeve/tube.

Heat treatment

The cast parts need to be heat treated to optimize the mechanical properties. The specific processes include annealing (700-750℃), quenching (850℃ water cooling) and tempering (500-550℃).

Heat treatment can improve the tensile strength (≥490 MPa) and hardness (HB≥100) of the material.

Machining

The heat-treated parts are cut, polished, drilled, etc. to form the final product.

Some processes may include auxiliary processes such as pre-degreasing, shot blasting, and brushing glue (refer to the general process of automotive bushings).

Surface treatment and assembly

Outsourcing processes such as phosphating can enhance corrosion resistance, and sulfidation is used to improve wear resistance.

Product advantages

Excellent mechanical properties

High strength and hardness: tensile strength ≥490 MPa, yield strength ≥340 MPa, HB hardness ≥100, suitable for heavy-duty occasions.

Excellent wear resistance: suitable for bearings, gears, bushings and other parts that need to withstand long-term friction.

Outstanding corrosion resistance

Stable in humid, seawater and acidic environments, widely used in marine equipment and petrochemical fields.

Excellent processing performance

Supports cold/hot processing, welding and precision machining, and ductility (elongation ≥16%) facilitates complex shape forming.

Economic and substitutable

The cost is lower than that of tin bronze, stainless steel and other materials, and it is a cost-effective alternative.

Multi-field applicability

Covering aerospace (bearing races, helicopter parts), ships, engineering machinery and hydraulic systems to meet diverse needs.
