C12200 Phosphorus deoxidized copper Bar/Rod
C12200 copper rod is a phosphorus deoxidized copper with the main features of excellent welding performance, hydrogen embrittlement resistance and good hot and cold working properties. This material has almost the same mechanical properties as high purity copper alloys (such as C11000), while due to the addition of phosphorus, its conductivity will be reduced, but the corrosion resistance and wear resistance are improved.

Phosphorus (P): 0.015%~0.040%, used for deoxidation and improving processing performance

Impurity restrictions:

Lead (Pb) ≤0.005%, Iron (Fe) ≤0.005%, Sulfur (S) ≤0.005%, Arsenic (As) ≤0.002%, Bismuth (Bi) ≤0.001%, etc. The total amount of impurities is strictly controlled below 0.05%.

Electrical conductivity/thermal conductivity: electrical conductivity 79%~85% IACS, thermal conductivity 340 W/m·K, close to the level of pure copper.

Production process and product advantages of C12200 copper rod:


1. Production process

C12200 copper rod mainly adopts the melting casting-extrusion process, and the specific process includes:


Raw material processing: Use raw materials such as electrolytic copper, copper, zinc ingots and copper bran, and enter the melting process after sorting.


Melting: Heat the raw materials to 1100℃ in an electric furnace to melt, add slag remover under normal pressure to remove impurities, and keep the molten state by insulation

Molding: Molten copper liquid is molded by a traction machine or a reverse extruder. Among them, the advanced process uses a 38MN reverse extruder, with a single ingot weight of nearly 1 ton, which can achieve high-density copper rod production.

Post-processing: Including drawing (removing surface debris), straightening, cutting and other steps. Some companies also improve accuracy through continuous casting and automatic control.

The cold/hot plastic processing performance is excellent, and complex molding such as stamping, stretching, and bending can be performed.

The phosphorus deoxidation process (residual phosphorus 0.015-0.040%) significantly improves the resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and is suitable for reducing atmosphere annealing scenarios.

Good welding performance, supporting oxyacetylene welding, gas shielded arc welding and other processes.
