C12200 copper tube is a high-purity copper tube, whose chemical composition is mainly 99.9% copper (Cu) and contains a small amount of phosphorus (P). It is usually used to manufacture seamless condenser tubes, electrical wiring, pipelines, heat exchangers and other equipment. This copper tube has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, good corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, and is suitable for a variety of industrial and civil fields such as air conditioning and refrigeration, water pipes, and gas transportation.

1. Size range

Outer diameter range

The outer diameter spans a wide range in different application scenarios:

Conventional pipes: 6mm (1/4 inch) to 108mm (4 inches), some suppliers provide 1/8 inch (about 3.2mm) to 8 inches (about 203mm).

Air conditioning and refrigeration (ASTM B280): 6.35mm (1/4 inch) to 105mm (4 1/8 inches).

Special industrial applications: Some standards cover the outer diameter limit to 328mm or 150mm

, or even 914mm (need to confirm whether it is a customized product).

Wall thickness range

Common wall thickness is 0.25mm to 8mm, which is adjusted according to the standard type:

ASTM B88 (water/gas): Type K, L, and M are provided. For example, a 1/2-inch pipe corresponds to a wall thickness of 0.049 inches (1.24mm) to 0.145 inches (3.68mm).

Air conditioning and refrigeration (ASTM B280): Wall thickness 0.635mm to 2.79mm.

Length

The standard straight pipe length is usually 12 feet (3.7 meters) to 20 feet (6 meters), and the coiled pipe length can reach 20 meters to 50 meters (such as annealed hose for refrigeration).

Phosphorus (P): 0.015%~0.040%, used for deoxidation and improving processing performance

Impurity restrictions:

Lead (Pb) ≤0.005%, Iron (Fe) ≤0.005%, Sulfur (S) ≤0.005%, Arsenic (As) ≤0.002%, Bismuth (Bi) ≤0.001%, etc. The total amount of impurities is strictly controlled below 0.05%.

Production process

Raw material processing and smelting


Use high-quality pure electrolytic copper (such as cathode copper) as raw material, eliminate recycling waste, and ensure high purity (Cu+Ag≥99.9%).

Add phosphorus copper alloy for deoxidation treatment, with a phosphorus content of about 0.015%-0.040%, to form phosphorus deoxidized copper (DHP) to improve welding performance and reduce the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.

Forming process


Continuous casting and rolling: Horizontal continuous casting process is adopted, with a melting temperature of about 1200℃, and copper tube billets are formed after water cooling to 50℃. Subsequent processing through planetary rolling, triple drawing, coil drawing and other processes ensures the dimensional accuracy of the tube.

Drawing and cold processing: Cold drawing technology is used to refine the diameter and wall thickness of the tube, and some processes are combined with cold rolling (such as cold rolled coil) to improve the surface quality.

Post-processing


Annealing: Online annealing process (such as soft annealing) is used to eliminate work hardening, restore ductility, and adapt to different application requirements (such as soft state, hard state).

Surface treatment: including polishing, mirror, oil polish and other methods. Some products are non-destructively tested to ensure zero damage points.

Excellent physical and chemical properties


Corrosion resistance: anti-pitting in harsh climates and water, suitable for corrosive environments such as marine engineering and chemical coolers.

High temperature and high pressure resistance: mechanical properties are stable at high temperatures, and pressure resistance far exceeds that of plastic pipes, suitable for hot water systems (such as solar energy and air conditioning cooling).

Thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity: outstanding thermal conductivity (used in heat exchangers and radiators), but the electrical conductivity is reduced to about 70-75% IACS due to phosphorus deoxidation treatment, which is still better than most alloys.
