C145 / C14500 Tellurium Copper Alloy Pipe/Tube
C14500 copper tube is a highly conductive copper alloy with tellurium copper (QTe0.5) as the main component. Its chemical composition mainly includes 99.90% copper, 0.004%-0.012% phosphorus and 0.40%-0.70% tellurium. This copper tube has excellent conductivity and machinability, as well as good corrosion resistance and anti-electrolytic corrosion resistance, and is suitable for high-demand application scenarios such as electrical connectors, welding parts, and motor parts.

Production process and product advantages of C14500 copper tube:

Production process

Composition control

C14500 is based on copper (≥99.3%), adding 0.4%-0.7% tellurium (Te) and 0.004%-0.012% phosphorus (P), and improving cutting performance and conductivity through precise proportioning. Some high-quality products also control the content of impurities (such as zinc and iron) to optimize corrosion resistance.

Smelting and casting

Medium frequency furnace smelting is adopted, and the selection and temperature of furnace charge are strictly controlled (liquid melting point is about 1075℃), and covering agent is used to prevent oxidation to ensure uniform alloy composition. Semi-continuous casting process is used to prepare the initial billet.

Processing and forming

Hot processing: The rough billet of the pipe is formed by extrusion (750-875℃) and forging (closed mold only). For example, Jintian Copper uses a 3250T large-tonnage reverse extruder to improve the density of the material.

Cold working: including cold drawing, machining and moderate cold heading, further refine the size and improve the surface accuracy. Ultrasonic testing is required after drawing to ensure that there are no internal defects.

Heat treatment

Annealing temperature range is 800-1200°F (427-649℃), which is used to eliminate cold working stress and improve ductility; the material after hot working may need to be heat treated at 1400-1600°F (760-871℃) to optimize mechanical properties.

Product advantages

Excellent cutting performance

The addition of tellurium elements makes the material form a chip-breaking edge, and the cutting efficiency is 1-2 times that of ordinary copper, the processing score exceeds 85%, and the tool life is extended, and burr generation is reduced.

High electrical and thermal conductivity

The electrical conductivity can reach 85%-95% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard), and the thermal conductivity is 205-355 W/(m·K), which is suitable for scenes where high current connectors, welding gun nozzles, etc. require rapid heat dissipation.

Excellent mechanical properties

Tensile strength 350-380 MPa, yield strength 260-370 MPa, elongation 8%-15%, Brinell hardness 76-120 HV, taking into account both strength and processing adaptability.

Balanced hot and cold processing performance, can be forged, extruded, drawn and stamped.

Environmental resistance

Excellent corrosion resistance (especially in acidic or marine environments), arc resistance and anti-welding properties, suitable for high-load electrical components.

Wide application

Used in new energy vehicle charging guns, plasma cutting nozzles, electrical connectors, plumbing pipes and precision electronic components, meeting the requirements of high conductivity, high temperature resistance and complex processing.
