C17200 beryllium copper tubes cover a wide range of sizes, mainly divided into two categories: conventional tubes and capillaries:
Conventional tubes: outer diameter range 0.5~360mm, wall thickness 0.1~50mm, can be supplied in straight strips or rolls, and the shape is mainly round.
Capillary tubes: suitable for precision instruments such as pressure gauges or optical equipment, common sizes include outer diameter 1.5~8mm, wall thickness 0.2~2.9mm, and some customized products can reach smaller specifications (such as outer diameter 2.4mm×wall thickness 2.2mm×length 80mm).

The main implementation standard of C17200 beryllium copper tube is ASTM B194-2015, which covers its chemical composition, mechanical properties and processing requirements.

Beryllium (Be): 1.80-2.15%
Cobalt (Co): 0.35-0.65%, or ≥0.20% when combined with nickel.
Nickel (Ni): 0.20-0.25%, or ≤0.6% when combined with cobalt.
Copper (Cu): Remainder, usually ≥99.5%.
Impurity limits:
Silicon (Si), iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) are all ≤0.15%.
Titanium (Ti): 0.10-0.25%
The performance indicators are significantly affected by the heat treatment state, mainly divided into age-hardened state and annealed state:
Age-hardened state (high-strength state):
Tensile strength: 1105-1520 MPa, up to 1520 MPa (220 ksi).
Yield strength (0.2% offset): 1035-1345 MPa.
Hardness: 38-44 HRC, up to HRC 45 after peak aging.
Elongation: 1-2%, low elongation is associated with high strength.
Annealed or soft state:
Tensile strength: 590-830 MPa.
Elongation: up to 24%.
Other key properties:
Elastic modulus: 128-185 GPa, different literatures have different values due to different test methods.
Fatigue limit: equivalent to special steel, with high fatigue resistance.
Impact toughness: at least 32 J.
Physical properties
Density: 8.25-8.36 g/cm³.
Thermal conductivity: 105 W/(m·K) (20℃), some literature gives higher values (324 W/(m·℃), the unit or test conditions may be different).
Electrical conductivity: 18-22% IACS, high conductivity is one of its core advantages.

1. Production process
Alloy smelting
Vacuum smelting technology is used to avoid metal oxidation and ensure material purity. Shanghai Muyan Alloy Company uses 20MN double-acting reverse extruder and vacuum furnace, and cooperates with spectrometers and other testing equipment to strictly control quality.
Hot processing forming
Including hot extrusion, hot rolling and forging, suitable for primary forming of pipes, plates, etc. The material remains machinable at a softening temperature of 930℃.
Cold processing process
Supports cold rolling, stamping, bending, spinning and hydraulic forming, which can realize complex shape processing. When the deformation is large, the annealing temperature needs to be controlled (α phase grain <0.035mm).
Heat treatment process
The core is solution treatment (780-820℃) and aging treatment (300-350℃), which significantly improves strength through precipitation hardening. After aging, the tensile strength can reach 1400MPa and the hardness is HRC45. Pre-aging treatment can improve cutting performance.
Welding and processing
Supports a variety of welding methods: soldering, resistance welding, plasma welding, electron beam welding, etc., especially electron beam welding is recommended in vacuum/high pressure environment. The machinability is 20% of free-cut brass, and it is better after aging.

Non-magnetic and no sparks on impact, suitable for explosion-proof tools and navigation instruments.

Mold application: High thermal conductivity can shorten the injection molding cycle, good mirror polishing, used for mold inserts, hot runner nozzles, etc.
