C27400 Yellow Brass "63/37" rod/bar
C27400 copper rod is a copper-zinc alloy (brass) with a composition of 63% copper and 37% zinc (63/37 ratio). It has excellent cutting performance, corrosion resistance and good mechanical strength. It is widely used in mechanical parts, hardware, electrical connectors and other fields.

Size range

Depending on different production standards and application requirements, the size range of C27400 copper rods is relatively wide:


Rods: diameter 1.0mm to 300mm, length is usually 6 meters, and various surface treatment forms such as black leather rods, cold drawn rods, and bright rods are available.


International standards

The international standards corresponding to C27400 include:


American standard: ASTM B135/B135M-2017 (seamless brass tube specification), UNS number is C27400.

ISO standard: CuZn37 (Copper-Zinc 37 alloy).

European standard: EN standard is CuZn37, German DIN standard is CuZn36.

Japanese standard: JIS C2720.

British standard: BS CZ 108.

Russian standard: Л62 (GOST L-63).


Chemical composition (mass percentage)

Copper (Cu): 61%-64%

Zinc (Zn): Balance (about 35%-39%)

Lead (Pb): ≤0.10% (some data suggest 0.08%-0.5%, but most limit to ≤0.1%)

Iron (Fe): ≤0.05%-0.15%

Other elements (such as nickel, tin, aluminum, etc.): Total ≤0.5%


Mechanical properties are significantly affected by processing state (such as soft state, hard state, hot state, etc.), and typical values are as follows:

Soft state (M): ≥290 MPa (such as annealed state)


Hard state (H80): 510 MPa (about 74 ksi)


General standard: 220-585 MPa (depending on processing state)

Other states: 28-48 ksi (about 193-331 MPa)
