C37700 Copper Rod is a lead brass alloy mainly composed of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn) and lead (Pb), with excellent forgeability, machinability and corrosion resistance.

Size range

Diameter: Different data show slight differences. The general rod diameter is 1-200 mm, or 6-500 mm, and the imperial specification is 0.25-4.5 inches (about 6.35-114.3 mm). Specific applications such as valve parts are smaller (such as 1/2"-4").

Length: The standard length range is 500-6000 mm, and 10-16 feet (about 3-4.8 meters) of rods can be provided, or customized to 30 meters.

Shape: Including round, square, hexagonal and special-shaped sections.

International standards

Material standards: Conform to ASTM B124 (forged brass rods), B981 (processed brass), as well as GB/T 5231, JIS H3300, etc.

The production process and product advantages of C37700 copper rods are as follows:


1. Production process

Smelting and continuous casting technology

Using large-tonnage electric furnace smelting combined with horizontal continuous casting technology, such as Ningbo Jintian Copper's "submerged liquid transfer-multi-head multi-stream horizontal continuous casting" technology, can directly use scrap copper for production, with less metal loss and environmental protection. This technology can simultaneously cast 64 products of different specifications in a single furnace, and the production efficiency is more than 10 times higher than that of traditional processes. Some companies also use reverse extrusion technology to ensure that the material is high-density, ultra-fine grains and free of internal defects.


Extrusion and forging

The density and surface finish of the cast copper rods are further improved by extrusion and stretching. The mainstream domestic process uses extrusion, and the product quality reaches the international advanced level

. The forging process needs to be heated to about 800℃ for red punching (hot forging), followed by trimming and annealing to eliminate internal stress.


Precision machining

The annealed blanks are machined by CNC lathes, drilling machines and other equipment. Some products need to be polished or electroplated (outsourced processing) to finally be made into precision parts. The hardness and strength of the material can be controlled by adjusting heating and cooling during the processing.


Environmental protection and recycling

The production process focuses on clean production, such as using electrolytic copper raw materials and electric furnace smelting to reduce smoke emissions, and the utilization rate of raw materials exceeds 95%. Waste copper materials can be recycled, in line with the principle of "reduction-reuse-recycling".


2. Product advantages

Excellent processing performance


Forging: The hot forging score is 100 (full score), and the recommended processing temperature is 1200-1500 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be made into complex-shaped forgings such as valves and hardware accessories.

Cutting: The easy-to-cut characteristics are suitable for automatic lathes and CNC high-speed processing, with good tolerance consistency and surface finish.

Excellent mechanical properties


Tensile strength: 370-420 MPa, yield strength 172 MPa, elongation 12%-19%, with both strength and ductility.

Hardness and toughness: Brinell hardness 75-90, Vickers hardness 120-150, torsional strength 250-300 MPa, suitable for high-precision parts.

Corrosion resistance and environmental protection


Performs well in fresh water, sea water and chemical media, with excellent corrosion resistance.

Conforms to ASTM B124, B981 and other standards, and the material is recyclable, meeting environmental protection requirements.
