C17510 Beryllium Copper Sheet/Plate
C17510 copper plate is a beryllium nickel copper alloy material with high conductivity, high hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and excellent heat dissipation performance. It is widely used in resistance welding electrodes, mold inserts, die casting molds, heat exchanger components and other fields.

Thickness range:


Cold rolled sheet: 0.1–4.5 mm (the lower limit of cold rolled sheet thickness is 0.1 mm and the upper limit is 4.5 mm).

Hot rolled sheet: 1–100 mm (the upper limit of the spot sheet thickness is 100 mm, and the hot rolling process can cover thicker specifications).

Thickness can be customized up to 250 mm for special needs.

Width range:


Conventional width is 260–2000 mm, of which the spot sheet width is usually ≤2000 mm.


Length range:


Standard length is 1000–10000 mm, and some cold rolled sheets are 800–2200 mm in length.

Can be customized according to needs, up to 45000 mm.



International Standards

Material Standards:


ASTM B441-1985: Specifies the chemical composition and performance requirements of copper-beryllium alloy forgings, applicable to C17510 plate.


ASTM B534-991 (1992, 1993 editions): Covers the manufacturing and acceptance standards for copper-nickel-beryllium alloys.


BS EN 13599:2014: Copper plates and strips for electrical purposes, specifying dimensional tolerances of 0.05–25 mm thickness and 10–1250 mm width.



Chemical composition (mass fraction %)

Copper (Cu): Balance, usually accounting for more than 97%.

Berryllium (Be): Most literature ranges from 0.2% to 0.6%

Nickel (Ni): There are two common ranges, one is 1.4% to 2.2%, and the other is 2.2% to 2.8%

Other elements: May contain trace amounts of cobalt (Co, 0.3% to 2.5%), iron (Fe, ≤0.15%), silicon (Si, ≤0.2%), aluminum (Al, ≤0.15%), etc.


Mechanical properties

The properties are significantly affected by the heat treatment state. The main data are as follows:


Tensile strength

After precipitation heat treatment: 690-895 MPa, some tests show 883 MPa (room temperature).

After hard treatment: 760-965 MPa, up to 130 ksi (about 896 MPa).

Yield strength (0.2% offset)

After precipitation heat treatment: 550-690 MPa, measured value 758 MPa (room temperature).

After hard treatment: 650-870 MPa, up to 752 MPa.

Elongation

Generally 10%-25%, the specific value varies with the treatment state, such as 16% in precipitation state.

Hardness

HRB: 92-102, hard state can reach HRB 95-102.

HV: Rockwell hardness HRB ≥ 90°HV.

Physical properties

Density: 8.75-8.83 g/cm³.

Electrical conductivity: 45%-60% IACS

Thermal conductivity: 172-240 W/(m·K).

Elastic modulus: 133-138 GPa.

Coefficient of thermal expansion: 18×10⁻⁶/°C (20-200°C).

Production process:

Smelting and casting


Use submerged flow transfer technology for smelting to reduce the cooling of molten metal and smoke emission.

The casting process uses horizontal continuous casting or vertical continuous casting technology to improve the yield rate.

Heat treatment strengthening


After solution treatment (to make the beryllium element evenly dissolved) and aging hardening (precipitation of strengthening phase), the material strength, hardness and conductivity are significantly improved. For example, after precipitation heat treatment, the tensile strength can reach 690-965MPa, and the conductivity is increased to 45-48% IACS.

Hot and cold processing


Hot rolling uses large ingot rolling technology, and cold rolling uses AGC closed-loop thickness control and roller technology to optimize the yield rate and reduce energy consumption.

It can be processed into various forms such as plates, bars, strips, etc., and supports customized cutting (such as thickness 1-50mm, width 600-1250mm, etc.).

Quality inspection


During the production process, internal defects are detected by flaw detectors, hardness testers are used to ensure material uniformity, and SGS reports and material certificates are provided.

Product advantages:

High strength and high hardness


After precipitation heat treatment, the hardness can reach HRC 92-102, and the tensile strength can reach 760-965MPa, which is better than ordinary copper alloys and some steels, and is suitable for high-load molds, electrodes and other scenes.

Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity


The electrical conductivity is as high as 45-60% IACS, and the thermal conductivity is close to pure copper, which can quickly dissipate heat, shorten the injection molding cycle and reduce product deformation.

Corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance


It performs well in corrosive media such as seawater and sulfuric acid, with a softening temperature of 700°C, suitable for high-temperature welding and submarine cables.

Special functional characteristics


Non-magnetic: suitable for precision electronic equipment and anti-magnetic interference occasions.

Spark-free characteristics: no sparks are generated during collision, suitable for flammable and explosive environments such as petrochemicals and mines.

Anti-adhesion: reduce the adhesion between the mold and the workpiece, and improve demolding efficiency.

Processing adaptability


Performance can be flexibly adjusted through cold processing (such as quarter hard state to full hard state) and heat treatment to support the manufacture of complex shaped parts.
