Detailed size range

According to relevant standards, the size range of C70600 plate is as follows:

Thickness: 0.1 mm to 50 mm

Width: 10 mm to 2500 mm, common standard width is 1000 mm or 1219 mm.

Length: usually 1 meter to 6 meters, support customized length (such as 2000 mm to 6000 mm).

International standards

C70600 plate follows the following international standards:

ASTM B171: covers the chemical composition, mechanical properties and dimensional requirements of copper-nickel alloy plates and strips.

EEMUA 234: Applicable to copper-nickel alloy materials in marine engineering, specifying parameters such as corrosion resistance and pressure rating.

ASME SB466: Although it is mainly for seamless pipes, it is used as a reference standard for plates in some procurement specifications.

EN 12735-1: European standard covering the processing and performance requirements of copper-nickel alloys.

Chemical composition

Core components:

Copper (Cu): Balance (88.6%-90.8%), main base metal.

Nickel (Ni): 9.0%-11.0%, provides corrosion resistance and strength.

Iron (Fe): 1.0%-1.8%, enhances corrosion resistance.

Manganese (Mn): 0.5%-1.0%, improves processing performance.

Impurity limits (ASTM standard):

Zinc (Zn) ≤1.0% (≤0.5% for welding purposes);

Lead (Pb) ≤0.05% (≤0.02% for welding);

Phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), carbon (C), etc. ≤0.02%-0.05%.

Mechanical properties (significantly affected by processing conditions)

Basic range:

Tensile strength (UTS): 275-520 MPa

(Annealed state is about 275-450 MPa, and can reach 520 MPa after cold working or heat treatment).

Yield strength (YS): 105-393 MPa

(Annealed state is lower, such as 105-200 MPa; it can be increased to 393 MPa after strengthening treatment).

Elongation (EL): 10%-45%

(Annealed state has high elongation, which decreases significantly after cold working).

Hardness: 60-80 HRB (Brinell hardness 100-130 HB).

Influence of processing conditions:

Annealed state (O60): lower strength (tensile strength 300-345 MPa), high elongation (≥30%).

Cold worked state (H55/H04): tensile strength increased to 415 MPa, elongation reduced to 10%-25%.

Welding performance: good, suitable for TIG/MIG welding, but impurity content needs to be controlled.

C70600 copper-nickel alloy plate production process and product advantages:

1. Production process

Composition control and smelting

C70600 alloy is mainly composed of about 90% copper (Cu) and 10% nickel (Ni), and contains a small amount of iron (Fe), manganese (Mn) and other elements. The composition ratio needs to be strictly controlled during the smelting process to ensure the corrosion resistance and mechanical properties of the material.

Casting and hot processing

The casting temperature range is 1330-1350°C, and sand casting, pressure casting or centrifugal casting are used for molding.

Hot processing (such as hot rolling, extrusion) temperature is controlled at 800-900°C to improve material plasticity and optimize grain structure. Extrusion hot processing temperature can reach 900-960°C.

Cold processing and annealing

The cold processing deformation can reach 40%-50%, which significantly improves the tensile strength (such as the tensile strength after cold rolling reaches 480-550 MPa).

After cold working, intermediate annealing (250-300°C) is required to eliminate work hardening and improve subsequent processing efficiency.

Heat treatment

Annealing temperature is usually 780-810°C, which is used to improve material plasticity and corrosion resistance. Solution treatment and aging treatment can further optimize mechanical properties.

Surface treatment

Mechanical polishing, pickling, passivation or electrochemical treatment (such as anodizing) are used to remove the oxide layer to enhance corrosion resistance and surface finish.

2. Product advantages

Excellent corrosion resistance

It exhibits excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in seawater, salt spray and hot and humid environments, and is especially suitable for marine engineering and chemical equipment.

The dense oxide film formed on the surface can inhibit the attachment of marine organisms and reduce maintenance costs.

High strength and good mechanical properties

The tensile strength is 480-550 MPa, the yield strength is 170-230 MPa, and the elongation can reach 20%-35%.

It has high hardness, wear resistance and fatigue resistance, suitable for high-load components.

Excellent processing performance

Good cold/hot processing performance, supporting complex forming processes such as stretching, bending, and cutting.

Excellent welding performance, applicable to TIG welding, MIG welding, resistance welding and other methods, with high strength and non-deformation of welded joints.

Physical properties and versatility

Excellent thermal conductivity (26 BTU/(sq ft/ft hr/°F)) and electrical conductivity (9% IACS), suitable for heat exchangers and electronic components.

Non-magnetic, density of 8.94 g/cm³, low thermal expansion coefficient (17.1×10⁻⁶/K), high stability.

Wide range of applications

Marine engineering: seawater pipelines, offshore platform structures, hull components.

Chemical and energy: reactors, heat exchangers, chemical pipelines.

Power and electronics: transformers, electrical connectors, heat dissipation equipment.

Aerospace: aircraft parts, satellite components.
